Our latest project: Hikershome!
Hikershome is a natural stone build house on top of a rock escarpment at the foot of the 4060m high Jbel M’Goun. The place itself is situated on an altitude of 2000m with breathtaking views in all 4 directions. It’s an ideal place to use as a base camp for daytrips cross the Atlas-Mountains. No matter if you are a hiker or a mountain biker, a climber or a motor biker the beauty of the region is interesting for all outdoor people. Even canyoning is possible in the nearby valley down stream and when you like to try abseiling; we have all the equipment for you to rappel down from our own overhanging rock behind the building.
In the gardens beside the house we grow vegetables, also apples, figs, almonds, and cactus fruits – depending on the time of the year.
Water supply comes from our own spring 500m higher up in the mountain. The water is guided by a pipeline to a container on the roof of the house. The quality is the same as the bottled water you buy in town.
There are no shops around the corner here so bread is backed in a clay oven just like the local people did (and still do) over hundreds of years. This sounds all very basic but since December 2008 we have electricity connection and internet will be installed soon. It’s a perfect mix of natural beauty and modern comfort.
All bedrooms are traditionally finished with clay walls and wooden ceilings with bamboo and a grass/clay mixture on top. Further you’ll find a kitchen corner, a garage and a toilet + shower facility.
Visiting Hikershome.
Ideal time of the year to visit the Hikershome is spring and autumn. Summer is pretty warm with round 30 degrees and in winter it might be to cold up there. However, for those who like snow it’s an ideal place.
